Park-and-Ride Pitched

ST. PETERSBURG (SPT) — The city’s first “park-and-ride” scheme has been announced by the planning committee of the Legislative Assembly, Rosbalt agency reported.

Fifty car parks will be built on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, accommodating 250,000 vehicles, with express-buses laid on to bring visitors to the city, according to the brains behind the project Nikita Ananov, the news agency reported.

Meanwhile, to deal with ever-increasing traffic jams on the city’s roads City Hall has created a new department whose chief, the traffic director, will be held personally responsible for improving the situation, Rosbalt reported.
