Published: October 30, 2013 (Issue # 1784)
Here is a unique tourist attraction allowing one to immerse into the history and soul of Russia for one night.
As you enter the palace, a classic quartet performs sweet melodies from the 19th century with historical dance ensemble "Reverence" performing welcoming minuets on the main staircase of the palace. In addition each person receives a glass of champagne! Such is the pleasure of being a guest of the Grand Duke!
Three professional folk groups perform in the folk show:
Peters Quartet: This vocal quartet performs classic folk songs, lyrical romances and Russian Orthodox songs in a capella.
Maidan: This Cossack song and dance company was established in 1992 in honor of the artist V. Drachev and named after the area where all the Cossacks gathered in the past and made decisions together. The ensemble masterfully plays and dances to Cossack songs and dances in their original form. The ensemble consists of 24 members (six ballet dancers, eight chorus singers and eight orchestra musicians).
Stars of St. Petersburg: This dance ensemble was formed in 1992. The ensemble artists are graduates from choreography schools and academies across Russia. The group specializes in folk dances from around the country such as: Emotive Russian dances from the north, fiery dances of the Voronezh and Don Cossacks, and the light-hearted and enjoyable traditions from the Urals and Siberia. Each performance is carefully choreographed as each has its own unique style and technique. All the dancers are lead performers in their own right, with each dancer carefully chosen from around Russia for their expressive and specialized dance techniques.
Created by the best tailors in the city, the colorful costumes in each performance plays a major by giving a more vibrant appearance on stage as well as complementing the style of each national dance.
Audiences of all ages and tastes will appreciate the ability of each dancer as they perform in the true national style with superior technique, difficult acrobatic stunts and breathtaking jumps! The dance ensemble has successfully toured across many countries including: Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Finland, Brazil, Sweden, China, Greece plus more.
The performance starts at 7 p.m. with two halves (45 minutes each). Duration: 1 hour and 50 minutes, including an interval where guests are invited to enjoy some fruit, canapes with red caviar, ham, salami, cheese, vodka, champagne, red wine, mineral water, juice as well as other beverages. During this time, a classical quartet will play, while dancers in historical costumes will dance for our dear guests.
